What is the Digital Nomad Visa in The Philippines and How Does It Work?

The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) in the Philippines is a new immigration program that allows foreign nationals to live and work remotely within the Philippines temporarily, provided their employers or clients are located outside the country. 

It offers a legal framework for remote workers, freelancers, and online entrepreneurs to reside in the Philippines for an extended period while maintaining their foreign-sourced income.

Who Can Apply for a Digital Nomad Visa to the Philippines?

Here’s the eligibility for the Philippines digital nomad visa:

  • Age: Be at least 18 years old.
  • Remote Employment: Provide proof of remote work using digital technologies. This means your employment or clients must be based outside the Philippines. 
  • Sufficient Income: Demonstrate sufficient income sourced from outside the Philippines to support yourself during your stay. 
  • International Health Insurance: Possess valid health insurance coverage for the entire duration of your stay in the Philippines.
  • No Local Employment: You must not seek or engage in employment within the Philippines.
  • Security Threat: You must not pose a threat to Philippine security.

How to Apply for the Philippines Digital Nomad Visa?

The official application process is still being finalized and is expected to be released within 30 days of the executive order’s signing (around late May/early June 2025).

The application process is expected to be available online, possibly through the evisa.gov.ph portal. You can also apply through a Philippine embassy or consulate in your home country or the nearest one to submit the documents and pay the fees.

General Requirements for Applying for A Digital Nomad Visa for The Philippines

  • Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the Philippines.
  • Remote Employment: Proof of employment contracts, letters from employers, invoices from clients, or company registration documentation demonstrating that your work is remote and your income is sourced from outside the Philippines.
  • International Health Insurance: Documentation of a valid health insurance policy that covers you in the Philippines for the duration of your stay.
  • Criminal Record Certificate: A police clearance or criminal record certificate from your home country.
  • Sufficient Funds: Your income must cover your living expenses without relying on local employment.
